Your Story Matters: A Listen Up Doc Program is a free, volunteer-based writing support project created through Listen Up Doc. It is designed to help young women living with endometriosis tell their personal stories with clarity and confidence. This opportunity is designed for individuals working on:
College admissions essays
Scholarship or grant applications
Personal statements for jobs or graduate programs
Advocacy bios or speaker introductions
We believe the resilience women show through their health journeys is a powerful part of who they are and deserves to be heard. We also know how hard it can be to write about yourself in a way that feels honest, without sounding like you are asking for sympathy. But sometimes, that vulnerability is important. We should not be afraid to share our full story when it helps others understand who we are and what we have overcome.
Our founder, Kassidy Sell, is a television producer, award-winning journalist and speaker with experience in ghostwriting. Kassidy personally reviews and edits each submission to help participants tell their stories with clarity and heart. While our primary focus is endometriosis, we welcome inquiries from those living with other chronic conditions. If we feel we can respectfully and effectively support your story, we are happy to help.
This is not a grammar or copyediting service (although we will note them if we see them!). Instead, we provide story-focused guidance to help you organize your thoughts, sharpen your message and feel proud of how you present yourself on paper.
We are currently accepting a limited number of submissions for writing pieces due during a specific time period (see below). All drafts and personal details submitted will be kept confidential and reviewed only by the Listen Up Doc project team.
Now accepting submissions with deadlines of August 11th - October 1st 2025.Â
